Questions
Which format compresses best?
WebP is usually 25 to 35 percent smaller than JPG at similar quality, and every current browser shows it. Use JPG when a site or app only accepts JPG.
What quality should I use?
Between 75 and 85 percent looks the same as the original for most photos and saves a lot of space. Go lower for thumbnails.
Does compression remove transparency?
JPG has no transparency, so transparent areas turn white. WebP keeps transparency, so choose WebP for cut-outs and logos.
